While there’s no North American pickup still, though a French release is currently underway on DVD, Pony Canyon is stepping up in Japan with the announcement that Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is getting the Blu-ray treatment. Details on how it’s being handled aren’t available yet in terms of upscale versus native HD for which episodes, but the 203 episode series will be released in three box sets throughout the spring and summer of 2017. They’ll be priced at 38,000 yen each and are coming out monthly in a way that will definitely suck the wind from a lot of wallets.
Plot concept: REBORN’s main protagonist is Tsuna, a timid junior high student who is failure at school, sports, and his social life. But everything around Tsuna completely changes when a fedora wearing, gun-toting baby named Reborn, who claims to be an Italian hit man from Vongola family, shows up! Reborn was sent to groom Tsuna for his future life as a mafia boss of the family!
