The first four Dragon Ball Super Japanese DVD and Blu-ray box sets arrived previously and the focus is on the fifth set that’s coming in January 2017. Ahead of that release, Toei Animation has now revealed the finalized packaging design for the two formats that keeps things consistent with the first four sets while also standing out on its own. What do you think of the character choices so far?
The fourth set is scheduled for an October 4th, 2016 release that will have episodes thirty-seven through forty-eight. The fifth set is scheduled for January 6th, 2017 with episodes forty-nine through sixty. The sixth set is scheduled for April 4th, 2017 with episodes sixty-one through seventy-two.
The DVD sets are priced at 11,200 yen each while the Blu-ray sets are priced at 15,200 yen each. The only on-disc extras included are the clean opening and closing sequences and both sets will include a booklet.
Toei Animation announced the series at the end of April, which is coming from a story concept from Akira Toriyama. The debut of the series marks the first new series for the property in eighteen years.
The cast includes Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, Son Gohan and Son Goten, Ryo Horikawa as Vegeta, Hiromi Tsuru as Bulma, Takeshi Kusao as Trunks, Mayumi Tanaka as Krillin, Masaharu Satou as Kame-Sen’nin, Toshio Furukawa as Piccolo, Naoko Watanabe as Chi-Chi, Yuko Minaguchi as Videl, Unshou Ishizuka as Mr. Satan, Kôzô Shioya as Majin Buu, Kouichi Yamadera as God of Destruction Beerus and Masakazu Morita as Whis.
Plot concept: Reuniting the franchise’s iconic characters, Dragon Ball Super will follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace. Overseen by Dragon Ball’s original creator, Akira Toriyama and produced with Fuji Television, Dragon Ball Super will draw on its historic past to create a bold, new universe welcoming to fans and endearing to new viewers.
