2 min read

Black ButlerNetflix has another anime series that’s about to expire on the service with the reveal of a January 1st, 2017 date for the Black Butler property. The show currently has the twenty-four episode first season, the His Butler, Performer OVA, the twelve episode second season, and the follow-up six episode OVA series. All of which is in bilingual form so it’s pretty accessible to anyone.

The property recently had a new TV series and OVA series released by Funimation and a new theatrical feature is coming out next year.

The property comes from the manga Kuroshitsuji that began back in 2006 from Yana Toboso. The series is still ongoing with the twenty-three volumes out so far. Yen Press releases the series domestically while FUNimation has handled the anime localizations.

Original premise: In Victorian-era Europe, a young boy loses everything he once held near and dear to a vicious plot. In his moment of death, he strikes a deal with a demon: his soul, in exchange for revenge. Ciel Phantomhive is now the head of the Phantomhive corporation, handling all business affairs as well as the underground work for the Queen of England. His new partner is a demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, whose powers as a butler is only surpassed by his strength as a demon.

The story follows the two along with their other servants, as they work to unravel the plot behind Ciel’s parents’ murder, and the horrendous tragedies that befell Ciel in the month directly after.
