Chalk up one more series in recent memory that can’t make it to the finish line in time with Long Riders. The fall 2016 production has revealed through its social media side that the eleventh and twelfth episodes of the series are being delayed until February 5th, 2017. This comes after we had a couple of episodes delayed very early in the run with the third and fifth ones that caused a compilation episode to be produced as well. No reason for the delay was given.
It likely won’t impact the sixth volume of the home video release that’s scheduled for a May 24th, 2017 debut. The series is currently streamed by Daisuki and The Anime Network.
The show was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara based on the series composition from Takahashi Natsuko. Jiemon Futsuzawa worked on the character designs.
The Japanese cast includes Nao Touyama as Ami Kurata, Hiromi Igarashi as Aoi Niigaki, Rumi Okubo as Hinako Saijou, Yurika Kurosawa as Yayoi Ichinose and Yoko Hikasa as Saki Takamiya.
The project set Ray to perform the opening theme song for the show. She’s done a number of anime series over the years including the recent AOKANA series.
The series is based on the manga by Taishi Miyake and began back in 2012 and has five volumes released so far. It already stands out a bit because it focuses on university aged students and is looking to capitalize on the Yowamushi Pedal crowd a little bit with its focus on bicycling.
Plot concept: Ami Kurata, a first-year university student who has no athletic ability, suddenly falls in love with a folding bicycle after seeing it in front of a train station. Inspired by her newfound love, she starts saving up to buy a bicycle and to learn cycling.
