Multimedia projects continue to be a solid part of the anime industry overall with companies and production committees looking to exploit all quadrants in order to generate interest and revenue in their projects. A new one is in our future with the Art of 18 franchise being put into production where it’ll include the already released smartphone game. More works are coming including an anime adaptation under the name 18 Anime. The announcement event didn’t include much about the production or concept for it, but the creative side will certainly have some interest for a number of fans.
With plans for a Tokyo MX broadcast sometime in 2017, the project will be animated by Gonzo with director Koji Morimoto on board. Morimoto’s credits go back a ways, including work on Magnetic Rose, which for a lot of fans will raise interest. Morimoto is on board as a chief supervisor for the anime and I’m expecting there’ll be a more hands-on director as well.
As for what the project will become in anime form? We’ll have to wait and see.
