The casting continues for Star Trek: Discovery as the show has to get filming very soon to meet its spring debut on the CBS All Access platform. The project has two new additions to the mix to flesh out the main crew of the Discovery. First, Doug Jones has boarded as Lt. Saru, who will be a member of an all-new alien race. The other addition is Anthony Rapp, marking the first openly gay from the start main character in the series with Lt. Stamets, an “astromycologist,” fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery
The report also confirmed Michelle Yeoh’s role as she’ll be playing Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet Captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou
Alex Kurtzman will serve as executive producer for the new Star Trek TV series. Kurtzman and Heather Kadin will serve as executive producers. Bryan Fuller is on board as showrunner, co-creator and executive producer and Nicholas Meyer is working on some of the scripts.
