VAP Schedules ‘Rudolf to Ippaiattena’ Anime DVD/BD Releases

rudolf-to-ippaiattena-coverThe summer 2016 feature film Rudolf to Ippaiattena is now making its way to home video in Japan where VAP is handling the distribution. Scheduled for a February 22nd, 2017 debut, it’ll be coming in three flavors. There’ll be a limited edition Blu-ray at 6,800 yen, a limited edition DVD at 5,800 yen, and a regular edition DVD at 3,800 yen. The regular edition is a barebones movie while the limited editions come with promotional footage, event material, a trio of PR programs that were broadcast, and more.

Based on X, the film was directed by Kunihuki Yuyama and Motonori Sakakibara from the screenplay by Yoichi Kato. Tohru Patrick Away handled the character designs for it. The film earned $12 million theatrically in Japan and debuted at fifth place on its opening weekend of August 6th, 2016.

The Japanese cast includes Mao Inoue, Ryohei Suzuki, Akio Ōtsuka, Nana Mizuki, Yuka Terasaki, Rio Sasaki, Norito Yashima, Arata Furuta and Sandayū Dokumamushi.

Plot concept: Rudolf, a black stray cat, is suddenly separated from his beloved master. He unexpectedly wakes up in a long-distance truck that takes him to metropolis Tokyo. There, he meets Ippai-attena, a big boss cat feared by everyone in town. Unable to return home, Rudolf starts a life as a stray with Ippai-attena, but Ippai-attena isn’t all that he seems to be.
