‘Starship Troopers’ Reboot Coming

2 min read

starship-troopers-novel-coverReboots are fairly common these days and they’re not going away anytime soon, but we’re seeing the late 90’s being mined a bit more lately and that means films that people may feel a different connection with. One that has a lot of potential is the Starship Troopers film, which we’re hearing will be going back to the original novel whereas the 1997 Paul Verhoeven film went more for outright satire with. Which works, to be sure, but for those looking for something of a more serious commentary and look at the controversial material, this may have more interest.

The project doesn’t have anyone set to direct but the first draft script is being put together by Mark Swift and DAmian Shannon, which did the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th and the upcoming Baywatch reboot.

Plot concept: Join the Army and See the Universe. That is the motto of The Third Space War, also known as The First Interstellar War, but most commonly as The Bug War. In one of Robert Heinlein’s most controversial best sellers, a recruit of the future goes through the toughest boot camp in the universe – and into battle with the Terrain Mobile Infantry against mankind’s most alarming enemy.
