Newly appointed teacher Machiko Natsukawa finds herself in big trouble when one of her students gets blackmail material on her in the form of a signed pair of panties. Now she’s forced to participate in sex orgies with the male and female delinquints in school. Not only that, but her class is packed full of sadists, nymphomaniacs, a sexually deranged nerd, a girl with a very big secret hidden under her skirt, and a mysterious network of spy cameras that put her exploits in the public eye. Machiko isn’t likely to get control of her class any time soon!

The audio presentation for this series brings us the original Japanese language track in stereo as well as the English language dub, both of which are encoded at 192kbps. Both tracks for the release are your basic stereo mix which is mostly dialogue heavy and is handled very well. Neither track has a lot of directionality to it but the mix is pretty much on par for what most standard adult series are like. Each track sounds good and has a full feeling to it through the center channel while the music tracks, such as the openings and closings, have a stereo feel. Dialogue is clean and clear throughout and we had no problems with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.

Originally released in 2005, the transfer for this OVA series is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 but is not enhanced for anamorphic playback. The source materials for this look good overall with a smooth and rather detailed look. There isn’t a lot of vibrancy to the color palette, instead going with a more real world look, but the colors look great for the most part and free of a lot of heavy noise. The only area that’s weak is with the black levels as they tend to come across more gray than black, which also allows for a good bit of noise in there. Some of the character’s hair just looks too light and the couple of night time sequences, the sky is far too gray shaded. But beyond that, we didn’t have any issues with some of the usual suspects like cross coloration and aliasing.

The menu layout is a good looking reworking of the cover art as it has the shot Machiko in front of the blackboard hiking up her skirt for all to see, while to the right of her is the large text for the selections and the bigger logo underneath it. There’s little here besides the show and some trailers so it’s easy to navigate and pretty much problem free. With a little bit of instrumental music added in, it’s a decent menu. Access times are nice and fast but the disc did not properly read our players’ language presets and defaulted to English with only sign/song subtitles.

If there’s one genre that’s over-represented in the adult world, it’s that of the interaction between teachers and students in the real world. They come in all shapes and sizes and span multiple genres within itself so you never know quite exactly what you’re going to get when you start a new one. Panty Flash Teacher, a weak title name and weak premise within the show, is actually surprisingly fun considering its angle.
We’re introduced to first-time teach Machiko as she goes in on her first day. She’s all full of the energy and sense of doing right by her students and has a bit of that whole “and justice for all” mentality. When taking the train in, she notices some students eating and drinking there and sitting on the floor talking loudly about stupid sexual practices. All of these are basic social no-no’s on the train but everyone else looks away, so she decides to put her foot down and show them what for. The students of course laugh at her and start molesting her and pulling up her skirt for everyone to see. Machiko’s shocked by the entire thing but a bit of quick thinking gets her to the school in time and away from them.
At least until she finds out that they’re both students in her class and they completely dominate her right from the start, going so far as to pull her over the desk and expose her panties to the entire class. There’s a small core of “bad” students in the school and most of the teachers and faculty are just playing a waiting game until they leave. One of them, Utsui, is actually the son of the mayor so he’s able to hold some sway at the school. Along with the other pair, the three of them are spending their time dominating another couple of students, a suicidal type boy named Asatsuki and his sister Asada. With the arrival of the teacher, they see a chance to escape the sexual games that the trio plays on them by substituting themselves with the teacher. The trio are actually already pursuing this and Machiko finds herself being the subject of a twisted campaign to ensure she’s a proper slave.
A bit of local area politics and school faculty politics enters the mix as we learn more about the students and people involved in what’s going on, but that only serves to enforce the relationships that are growing up around Machiko. She’s by no means an innocent here as she believes it’s in her best interest to have sex with one student so that he realizes he’s not lonely and then another who claims he’ll kill himself if she doesn’t let him have his way with her. She’s not the brightest teacher to come along in recent memory but she does have a good heart and tries to do things to actually help people. She just goes about it in completely inappropriate ways, though she does get a lot out of it in the end. Get it? In the end? At least there isn’t anything scatological about it.
The sex scenes for the two part OVA are pretty good though like the animation and character designs, you can tell some short cuts are taken. The character designs are actually rather good I think, with Machiko being the most detailed and fleshed out, she has that slightly older look to her and it’s carried off by her having a good selection of outfits. There are some mild shortcuts in design though, or at least in translation to animation, that gives it a somewhat less than detailed look but I think this works in the shows favor as the way it is done actually gives it a bit style. The sex is almost done in a similar way, there are some rather good scenes (particularly with Machiko), but they do use some quick repeated animation moments to lengthen out scenes a bit. They’re pretty minimal all told but noticeable if you watch this stuff long enough.
In Summary:
While it has a gimmicky and fairly poor name, Panty Flash Teacher was actually a lot of fun and had both some great sex scenes and an interesting enough plot to carry it along. Or rather, Machiko does enough stupid things that you want to see what else her stupidity does and what situations it will land her in. It wraps it all up nicely in the two episodes that are here and it has some good looking characters, some fun sex scenes, no scat and generally nothing that will turn most people away. While it isn’t quite consensual for some of the scenes, it’s better than a lot of the outright non-consensual pieces and would be a good title for someone looking to see if they can break out of the couples/introductory level of adult shows.
