MVM Entertainment Acquires ‘Invaders of the Rokujyoma!?’ UK Anime License

2 min read

Invaders Of The Rokujyoma Hulu HeaderMVM Entertainment has picked up a new license for release in 2017 with the acquisition of the UK rights for the Invaders of Rokujouma series. The distributor will be bringing the show out in January 2017 with separate DVD and Blu-ray releases with full details to come soon. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for North American release and you can see our review of it here.

The series comes from the light novels by Takehaya with artwork by Poco that kicked off in 2009 and has twenty-three volumes released so far. The series was directed by Shin Oonuma at Silver Link while the original creator, Takehaya will served as the series director. Character designs were handled by Hideki Furukawa who adapted them from Poko’s original designs. Furukawa also served as storyboard director while Shogo Yasukawa handled the series overall composition.

The series stars Yūichi Nakamura as Kōtarō Satomi, Eri Suzuki as the ghost Sanae Higashihongan, Hikari Omori as the magical girl Yurika Nijino, Masumi Tazawa as the underground dweller Kiriha Kurano, Maria Naganawa as the space alien Theiamillia Gre Fortorthe, Ayana Taketatsu as Karama, a haniwa (clay grave figure), Aoi Yūki as Korama and Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Kenji Matsudaira, a childhood friend of Kōtarō’s. In addition to this breakdown, part of the cast is coming together under the tentative name of Shinryakusha Unit in order to perform the opening theme song, which will include Hikari Omori, Eri Suzuki, Masumi Tazawa, and Maria Naganawa.

Plot concept: Due to young Koutarou’s financial circumstances, he is forced to live in a small rokujouma (6-tatami apartment) on a budget of 5000 yen a month. On the plus side, he lives rent-free, but on the minus side, that’s because room 106 of Corona Apartments is cursed. The ghost is a cute young girl, and hijinks ensue when she tries to drive him out. Between the haunting, Koutarou’s nosy neighbors, and a self-styled magical girl flying to the unneeded rescue, there’s way too much for the impoverished young man to handle.
