The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
This entire episode is primarily focused on Tsukishima’s evolving strategy to deal with the Shiratorizawa. With a few errors and victories on their side, Tsukishima learns how to manage different players with the ultimate goal to stop Ushijima’s crushing spike.

Tsukishima relays his strategies in pieces to different players, and his plan takes shape. Karasuno and Shiaratorizawa tie and it could be anyone’s game. With the heat on, Shiratorizawa even takes a time out, which shows how serious Karasuno is pressuring them. They battle and take turns being at match point, but Tsukishima’s plan comes to fruition. A tired Shiratorizawa setter opens up an opportunity that Tsukishima has been waiting for. He takes Ushijima head on. Not only does he block the spike, he scores the match winning point.

In Summary:
One of my favorite things about anime is the ongoing opportunity to watch characters grow. This theme is everywhere, but in Haikyuu!! Tsukki’s transformation is one of the most notable. Tsukki’s growth as a player advances just as it does for everyone else, but it’s his awareness of his team that is blossoms. Of course, Tsukki won’t admit to it.

This tense, but heartwarming episode is wonderful. Just as the series as a whole, I laughed and cheered Karasuno on to a very close victory.

Grade: A+
