2 min read

sky-wizards-academy-header-10-28With Funimation bringing out Sky Wizards Academy in North America on November 8th, 2016, they’ve now brought out their first dub clip for the show. With the series having gotten a Broadcast Dub before, promotion for the home video release has been pretty minimal. The DVD/BD combo set is priced at $6.4.98 for its release and the extras for the set include an Episode 1 Commentary Episode 7 Commentary Promotional Videos Commercials Textless Opening Song ”D.O.B.” Textless Closing Song ”Hallelujah” and the U.S. Trailer.

The series was directed by Takayuki Inagaki based on the scripts by Hiroshi Yamaguchi at Diomedia. The Japanese cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kanata Age, Nozomi Yamamoto as Misora Whitale, Nao Tōyama as Lecty Eisenach, Iori Nomizu as Rico Flamel, Risa Taneda as Yuri Flostre, Yuuki Yamada as Chloe Sevegny, Saeko Zōgō as Freon Flamel and Tetsuya Kakihara as Lloyd Alwyn.

The title comes from Yu Moroboshi with artwork by Mikihiro Amami that began in 2013 and has ten volumes out since then. Not surprisingly, a manga adaptation kicked off as well back in summer 2014 in Monthly Comic Alive with Arisu Shidou handling that adaptation.

Plot concept: The story is set in a world where humanity, driven off the land by the threat of magical armored insects, now live in aerial floating cities. Thus wizards – aerial combat mages who fight the insects with magical powers – came into being.

Kanata Age is a young man who lives on the floating wizard academy city of “Misutogan.” He was once celebrated as the “Black Master Swordsman,” the elite ace of the S128 special team. However, he is now despised as the “traitor of the special team.” One day, he is assigned as the instructor of E601, a team that has suffered 10 consecutive defeats. E601 has three girls – Misora Whitale, Lecty Eisenach, and Rico Flamel – with one or two peculiar quirks.
