As we’re past the end run for the second cour for Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor – Exodus, the King Records has brought out a little something interesting. A special promotional video set to instrumental music was put together for an event in August with the MAXON 2016 User Meeting that was created by Aoki Takashi, the director of photography for the series. The promo certainly tells an engaging story through the visuals that we get and it has me hopeful to see it sooner rather than later on home video here.
With animation by XEBEC Zwei, the series asw directed by Takashi Noto based on the screenplay by Tow Ubukata and character designs by Hisashi Hirai.
Airing for 26 episodes, the show was released across twelve volumes along with two box sets to hold each of the cours.
The Japanese cast includes Makoto Ishii as Kazuki Makabe, Kohei Kiyasu as Soshi Minashiro, Marika Matsumoto as Maya Tomi, Ryotaro Okiayu as Walter Bargest, Yuichi Nakamura as Dustin Morgan, Aki Unone as Keith Walter, Megumi Han as Aishuwaria Fein, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Mitsugu Jinnai, Azumi Asakura as Saki Masaoka, Saori Seto as Mai Douma and Masakazu Morita as Billy Morgan.
Original concept: Tatsumiyajima is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island’s young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught… but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity’s continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind.
