‘Scum’s Wish’ Anime Adaptation Staff & First Promo

2 min read

Scums Wish HeaderWe learned previously that the manga series Kuzu no Honkai, aka Scum’s Wish, was announced for a January 2017 debut by Fuji TV for the noitaminA anime block. That’s now starting to filter out as the first teaser spot from the noitaminA channel has surfaced that reveals some of the main staff. The show is set to be directed by Masaomi Ando based on the series composition by Makoto Uezu. Keiko Kurosawa will serve as both the animation director and character designer for it with Lerche handling the animation.

Crunchyroll has the first thirty-five chapters of the manga available to read.

The original work began in September 2012 in Big Gangan magazine and has done pretty well since then with some creative stories that have garnered some good attention from readers. The fifth volume of the series is scheduled for release next week in Japan.

Plot concept: 17-year-old Awaya Mugi and Yasuraoka Hanabi appear to be the ideal couple. They are both pretty popular, and they seem to suit each other well. However, outsiders don’t know of the secret they share. Both Mugi and Hanabi have hopeless crushes on someone else, and they are only dating each other to soothe their loneliness. Mugi is in love with Minagawa Akane, a young teacher who used to be his home tutor. Hanabi is also in love with a teacher, a young man who has been a family friend since she was little. In each other, they find a place where they can grieve for the ones they cannot have, and they share a loneliness-driven physical intimacy. Will things stay like this for them forever?
