‘Deadpool’ Director Departs From Sequel

2 min read

DeadpoolWith the way the Deadpool film worked, a  low budget for a superhero film with $50 million budget that brings in $782 million worldwide  before even talking about home video, it’s almost a no-brainer for everyone to come back, especially since salaries can go up a fair bit. We learned back in April that the sequel was formally confirmed and that it would feature the return of Tim Miller as director and star Ryan Reynolds. It was also confirmed that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will return to write the sequel as they definitely showed that they got the character – something studio execs pretty much said previously that they never understood, hence it languishing for so many years.

Now things have taken a different turn as creative differences have made it so that director Tim Miller will not be returning for the project. He was working with the writers on the script but things have just not gelled and he’s amicably ended his involvement in the project and is focusing on a new property with Influx, the Daniel Suarez novel that the studio gained recently and is looking at as trilogy material.

No new director has been set at this stage, though there will be many that will want to be involved. Let’s all just agree to keep Bryan Singer away from it.
