Donald Glover Boards ‘Han Solo’ Anthology Film

2 min read

Lando HeaderWith the title character of Han Solo having been set previously with Alden Ehrenreich and some testing going on recently for the female lead, a major piece of casting has arrived that has been speculated on for months and months. Donald Glover has boarded the project to take on the role of Lando Calrissian, a character that was played in the original trilogy of films by Billy Dee Williams and has shown up in the Star Wars Rebels TV series where Williams voiced him as well. Glover can currently be seen in the critically acclaimed FX TV series Atlanta as well as recently in The Martian. His next film project that recently wrapped is Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

The new anthology film still doesn’t have a formal name, though that might be getting closer as casting is getting further underway.

Plot concept: This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi.
