What They Say:
The year is 1555, the middle of the Warring States period, and one young man holds on to a very big dream. That young man, known as an empty-headed fool, is none other than Oda Nobunaga. Enchanted by his dream, a certain young girl who admires Nobunaga swears that she will become his ninja one day. Nobunaga has one goal: to unify Japan by military might! Decorated by a colorful cast of characters, including the airheaded Kichou, the errand boy Hideyoshi, the tsundere Nene, the straight man Mitsuhide, and the half-dead Hanbei, this heavy-hitting wartime gag anime is about to begin!!

With the basic episodes set up and the main characters introduced, the series has proven to be fun with the right level of wacky so far and even a bit charming when it comes to Chidori. With this episode, Chidori gets sent off to infiltrate the Imagawa mansion and that means we get to see her skill set in service to her liege. With Owari potentially about to be invaded, gaining information is exactly what she needs to do. Of course, her lack of skill in handling basic math makes you wonder if she can actually figure out what’s information and what isn’t. She and Suke are definitely fun here with their quirks and she’s utterly adorable in using her ninja skills.

In Summary:
Ninja Girl & Samurai Master provide a good look at what Chidori is capable of as a ninja beyond what we’ve seen and there are definitely pros and cons to her at this point. She’s definitely got skill and a whole lot of luck but she isn’t able to back it up with enough smarts to be truly dangerous. The trick is going to be seeing if Nobunaga can figure out how to use her as a tool properly before she ends up just throwing everything into a mess by accident. It’ll be a cute and silly mess, at least!
