starship-girl-yamamoto-yohkoIt’s time to feel like the 1990’s once again as King Records has announced another Blu-ray anime box set that will be arriving this year. Set for a December 21st, 2016 release, the distributor will bring out the Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko TV series and two OVA series in one box set. It’ll be priced at 34,000 yen and will be an upscale. The TV series will be spread across five discs while the OVAs are on the sixth disc along with the extras of the clean opening and closing and eye-catch collection. There will also be two character song CD releases included with it.

The TV series was directed by Akiyuki Simbo based on the series composition by Maoyir Sekijima, working off of the original concept by Takashi Shouji. Akio Watanabe handled the character designs and it was produced by JC Staff. The Japanese cast includes Megumi Hayashibara as Madoka Mido, Minami Takayama as Yamamoto Yohko, Satsuki Yukino as Momiji Kagariya and Yuko Miyamura as Ayano Elizabeth Hakuhoin.

The OVAs were previously licensed and released in bilingual form by Righ tStuf in North America. While not included here, the cast for that included Erin Matthews as Yohko Yamamoto, Hunter MacKenzie Austin as Madoka Mido, Sienna Canyon as Ayano Elizabeth Hakuhoin and Zarah Little as Momiji Kagariya.

Plot concept: In the year 2999: humanity is split into two factions, Terra and Ness, in a war fought by starships. One of the foremost of the pilots is the cocky teenager Yamamoto Yohko, and during one of her missions, she and her crew are sucked into a temporal anomaly (a la Star Trek) that sends her back to our time. Amnesiac, she only thinks of herself as a typical high school student – until a course of events sends her back to her ship the TA-29, with her newfound friends fighting at her side in a war that looks suspiciously like an arcade game (complete with 100 yen ignition costs!).
