King Records Sets ‘Cyberteam in Akihabara’ Blu-ray Anime Release

cyberteam-in-akihabara-visualKing Records is dipping into its back catalog to bring out a new Blu-ray release next year with the announcement of the Cyberteam in Akihabara property. The twenty-six episode series and movie is getting a complete collection that lands on January 17th, 2017 priced at 35,000 yen. The set will be in 1080p 4:3 for the TV show while the film will be 1.78:1 on the sixth disc. Extras for the release include a 48-page booklet, the clean opening and closing, TV spots, home video release spots, and movie related promos and spots.

The series was directed by Yoshitaka Fujimoto based on the concept by Tsukasa Kotobuki, who also worked on the character designs here.

The Japanese cast includes Ryouka Shima as Hibari Hanakoganei, Chieko Honda as Jun Goutokuji, Hiromi Tsuru as Hinako Hanakoganei, Hirotaka Suzuoki as Christian Rozenkreutz, Kappei Yamaguchi as Crane Bahnsteik, Kozue Yoshizumi as Suzume Sakurajosui and Megumi Hayashibara as Tsubame Ohtori.

While it does not include the English language dub, one was produced by ADV Films that starred Allison Keith as Kamome Sengakuji, Hilary Haag as Tsubame Ohtorii, Luci Christian as Hibari Hanakoganei and John Kaiser as Cigogne Raspaille.

Plot concept: A “patapi” is a cute mechanical creature which is like a cyber pet. It can eat, sleep, play, and even help out its owners with some stuff. When Hibari Hanakoganei receives a patapi from a prince in her dreams, she is thrilled and names it “Densuke”. When mysterious forces try to steal Densuke, Hibari discovers that Densuke is not just an ordinary patapi. Densuke has magical powers that allows it to transform into a powerful cyber-fighter who looks like Hibari. Hibari’s friends also receive similar patapis, and together they form the Cyber Team in Akihabara.
