‘Girlish Number’ Anime Closing Streamed

2 min read

girlish-number-episode-2With the fall 2016 anime series Girlish Number underway, TBS Animation is handling the promotion for it and have revealed a piece of the marketing plan. While we don’t see this often on the Japanese side, they’re now streaming the closing theme song “Ima wa Mijikashi Yume Miyo Otome” for it, which is performed by the lead actresses going under the name of the series. While we get a more traditional opening sequence I do love that closing sequences tend to try something different in terms of style of animation and presentation even if the song itself is somewhat familiar, to say the least.  The show is being simulcast by The Anime Network and Hulu as well as Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll is streaming it to viewers in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America.

Shota Ibata is directing based on Wataru Watari’s series composition. Sumie Kinoshita is handling the adaptation of QP:flappers character designs. Diomedea is handling the animation production.

The opening song is “Bloom” while the ending song is “Ima wa Mijikashi Yume Miyo Otome,” both of which are being performed by the five female lead voice actresses under the name Girlish Number.

The previously announced cast includes Sayaka Senbongi as Chitose Karasuma, Kaede Hondo as Yae Kugayama, Yui Ishikawa as Koto Katakura, Kazuya Nakai as Kuzu-P, Yuuichirou Umehara as Gojou Karasuma, Eri Suzuki as Momoka Sono, Saori Oonishi as Kazuha Shibasaki, Takuya Eguchi as Towata AP and Kenyuu Horiuchi as Namba Shacho.

Watari’s other work My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU has gotten an anime adaptation and Qualidea Code came out this summer.

Plot concept: The series follows Chitose Karasuma, a university student who aims to become a voice actress (seiyuu). The stage event listing further indicates that it focuses on the profession of idol seiyuu.
