MTV is looking to develop its next project and to continue to work with the Teen Wolf production side as the creative folks Andrew Cochran and Jeff Davis of that series are now developing a War of the Worlds series for the network. It can largely be expected to be teen oriented and that would actually provide for a bit of a change from the various adaptations we’ve had over the years. You can see this in a similar vein to Falling Skies in how a production would look. Having been a big fan of the original film that adapted the HG Wells novel, and of course loving the Orson Welles broadcast, I was also a fan of the 1980’s TV series sequel that looked to add something new to it. And I’ll even admit enjoyment with the Steven Spielberg film a few years back that Tom Cruise led.
And updated version of this with today’s view of things, social commentary, and social media itself, could make for a pretty intriguing show if it’s tight enough and has strong enough characters and a decent budget behind it.
