TOHO is handling the home video releases for the fall 2016 anime series Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru and have set a fairly standard release plan for it. With the show underway and a few months until the first volume hits, TOHO has now brought out their first TV spot to remind fans to get their preorders in for it. The twelve episode series is getting a six-volume release that begins on December 14th, 2016. Both formats are listed as limited editions with the DVDs priced at 5,800 yen and the Blu-ray’s at 6,800 yen.
This series was animated by Doga Kobo and was directed by Takashi Naoya from the scripts by Pierre Sugiura while Junichiro Taniguchi worked on the character designs.
The Japanese cast includes Mitsuhiro Ichiki as Yasusada Yamatonokami, Toshiki Masuda as Kiyomitsu Kashu., Daiki Yamashita as Imanotsurugi, Reona Irie as Toushirou Maeda, Tarusuke Shingaki as Heshikiri Hasebe, Junji Majima as Aoe Nikkari, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kotetsu Hachisuka, Kento Hama as Yoshiyuki Mutsunoka, Soma Saito as Toushirou Hamazuo and Kaito Ishikawa as Kanesada Kasen.
The game itself kicked off in January 2015 and was developed by Nitroplus and DMM Games.
Plot concept: The year is 2205. The “historical revisionists” have begun attacks on the past in their plot to change history. The Saniwa, who have been charged with protecting history, can imbue life into objects. Strongest among these are the Tōken Danshi. The story centers around their cheerful lives.
