With the title character of Han Solo having been set previously with Alden Ehrenreich, the focus now is to figure out more of the cast and that will give some clue as to the story Set for a May 28th, 2018 release which means production will begin early next year, the first big clue has arrived and it’s definitely exciting. Variety is reporting that three actresses are currently known to be in contention for the lead female role with Tessa Thompson, Naomi Scott, and Zoe Kravitz. This almost certainly points to a Sana Solo character storyline, a character that was introduced into the comics in the past year by Marvel where we met her after A New Hope and discovered that Han had a wife through a scam that the pair were running.

Tessa Thompson is currently working on Thor: Ragnarok as Valkyrie while Zoe Kravitz is about to make her next appearance in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Naomi Scott was seen in last years The 33 and The Martian and is in the upcoming Power Rangers as the Pink Ranger.

“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with,” Pihl Lord and Christopher Miller said in a statement back in July 2015. “We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”
