Kiitarou Shounen no Youkai Enikki HeaderThe new anime adaptation of the webmanga series Kiitarou Shounen no Youkai Enikki from Reiichi Kageyama has found its simulcast home as Crunchyroll has revealed their pickup of the series. The show will be called Kiitaro’s yokai picture diary as it debuts here as the first episode has already gone live. The series will stream new episodes on Wednesday’s at 10:45am ET going forward with it being available to members worldwide excluding Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.

The series is being directed by Hisayoshi Hirasawa based on the scenario from WORDS in STEREO. Noriyuki Imaoka is on board as the character designer. The cast includes Hiromi Igarashi as Kiitarō, Arisa Nakada as Suzu, Eri Kitamura as Kitsune-men no Onna, Maria Naganawa as Yuki Musume and Sayaka Ohara as Yuki Haha.

The group has worked solely with short-form series which gives us an idea of what this series is like. Creators in Pack have been involved with recent shows Danchigai and Ojisan and Marshmallow as well as the currently broadcasting Ozmafia series.

The manga began in 2008 online and began a print run through Micro Magaznie Comics back in 2011 with seven volumes released to date with more still being produced.

Plot concept: This is the visual diary of Kiitarou’s experience with youkai. He’s a boy with a very strong spirit sense, but when he entered a forbidden storehouse, he was kicked out of his home. He soon found a new place to live, where he met a zashiki warashi (house spirit) named Suzu. He and Suzu soon began to attract all kinds of spirit creatures, starting with a nurikabe (appears as a wall that impedes travelers) and mokumokuren (appears as eyes in a torn paper wall). What kind of folkloric creature will he meet next?
