The Long Riders anime series is set to premiere on October 8th, 2016 as part of the fall anime season in Japan and it’s now found its simulcast home. Daisuki is listing it as an exclusive on their site with plans to simulcast it just after it airs in Japan. With plans for it to be available to viewers in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Monaco, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Vatican City, Yugoslavia, Scandinavian Peninsula (Denmark, Finland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Ireland) France and Belgium (1 week delay), it’ll have some good subtitle options with English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, and Russian subtitles included.
The show is being directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara based n the series composition from Takahashi Natsuko. Jiemon Futsuzawa will be handling the character designs.
The cast includes Nao Touyama as Ami Kurata, Hiromi Igarashi as Aoi Niigaki, Rumi Okubo as Hinako Saijou, Yurika Kurosawa as Yayoi Ichinose and Yoko Hikasa as Saki Takamiya.
The project has set Ray to perform the opening theme song for the show. She’s done a number of anime series over the years including the recent AOKANA series.
The series is based on the manga by Taishi Miyake and began back in 2012 and has five volumes released so far. It already stands out a bit because it focuses on university aged students and is looking to capitalize on the Yowamushi Pedal crowd a little bit with its focus on bicycling.
Plot concept: Ami Kurata, a first-year university student who has no athletic ability, suddenly falls in love with a folding bicycle after seeing it in front of a train station. Inspired by her newfound love, she starts saving up to buy a bicycle and to learn cycling.
