Crunchyroll Adds ‘Ping Pong Girls’ For Fall 2016 Anime Lineup

ping-pong-girlsKnown as Shakunetsu no Takkyuyu Musume, the fall anime adaptation of Ping Pong Girls has gotten a Crunchyroll pickup for simulcast. The series is set to premiere on Monday, October 3rd, 2016 at 2:05pm ET for members. Its availability is rock solid as it’s open worldwide excluding Asia.

Kinema Citrus is on board to produce the adaptation that will be directed by Yasuhiro Irie based on the series composition by Hideyuki Kurata and character designs by Junko Sugimura. The series is based on the web manga from Yagura Asano.

The Japanese cast includes Hisako Tojo as Kiruka Ushirode, Yuuki Kawahara as Hokuto Itsumo, Ayaka Imamura as Mune Oomune, Marika Kouno as Hanabi Tenka, Yumiri Hanamori as Koyori Tsumujikaze and Minami Tanaka as Agari Kamiya.

It’s had three print volumes released so far.

The main cast for the show will be performing together as a unit for the opening theme song “Shakunetsu Switch” with the name Tsubamegahara Chuugaku Takkyuu-bu.

Plot concept: The world of middle school girls’ ping pong enters an age of heated rivalry as the throne at its apex is surrendered… Tsumujikaze Koyori, a girl who loves ping pong, has just transferred to Suzumegahara Middle School. Along with her friends who strive to be the national champions, can Koyori bring the winds of change to the school?! The curtain is about to rise on a scorching hot tale of girls who love ping pong!
