First ‘Kantai Collection’ Anime German DVD/BD Release Scheduled

2 min read

Kantai Collection Image 1AV Visionen picked up the home video rights for the Kantai Collection anime series back in April of this year but haven’t updated on that pick up for the German fans since then. While we knew previously that the series had gotten a basic solicitation on Amazon.DE where it’ll have separate DVD and Blu-ray releases priced at 38,99 and 39,99 euro respectively, a new detail has finally been added. The show has now been scheduled for an April 28th, 2017 release, though now it’s listed under Kaze Anime. The first volume looks to be four episodes worth with a hundred minute running time but there’s no information in regards to language options yet.

The show stars Sumire Uesaka as Fubuki, Saki Fujita as Akagi, and Yuka Iguchi as Kaga. The series was animated at studio Diomedea with Keizo Kusakawa directing based on scripts by Jukki Hanada. Character designs are done by Naomi Ide and Mayuko Matsumoto, who also served as the chief animation directors.

Plot concept: Set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans to the “deep sea fleet,” the only hope to counter this threat are the Kanmusu, a group of girls who possess the spirit of Japanese warships. The story revolves around Fubuki, a destroyer who comes to the Chinjufu base to train with other Kanmusu. Watch as their stories unfold!
