Sentai Reveals New ‘Gatchaman Crowds Insight’ Anime DVD/BD Artwork

2 min read

insight0001Sentai Filmworks announced the home video release of Gatchaman Crowds Insight back in July and they’ve now finalized the artwork for it. As happens with some releases, there’s a drastic change between the original placeholder image and what the finalized artwork is like, which you can see below. We also get a look at the back cover and how the disc artwork will be like. The thirteen episode series is scheduled for a November 22nd, 2016 debut on DVD and Blu-ray with a bilingual presentation that has the English language dub directed by Kyle Jones. They’ll be priced at $59.98 and $69.98 respectively.

“Originally broadcast in Japan on Nippon TV, the legendary production company Tatsunoko (Speed Racer, Casshern Sins, Southern Cross, Genesis Climber Mospeada, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu) once again produces the 12 episode series, with director Kenji Nakamura (tsuritama, Mononoke) and series composer Toshiya Ono (tsuritama, Perfect Insider) reprising their roles. Also returning are character designer Yûichi Takahashi (tsuritama, Macross Frontier) working from original designs by Kinako, and the music production team of Kazuhiro Watanabe (Wolf Girl & Black Prince, La Corda d’Oro Blue Sky) and Takao Kondo (Brynhildr in the Darkness, Wolf Girl & Black Prince, InuYasha – The Final Act).”

Plot concept: You can’t keep a good Gatchaman down, especially when a new organization called VAPE (short for Violent Ape) starts hijacking CROWDS technology. The ensuing wave of “Red CROWDS” incidents targeting high profile targets like the Prime Minister make it clear that the good team needs to start recruiting; fast. Fortunately, help arrives quickly, and with a rather… loud entrance. The alien Gelsadra’s ship crashes in a rice paddy in Nijima! Besides being generally peaceful, Gelsadra has a unique power involving comic-book-like speech bubbles that display a person’s inner feelings, rather like an emoji. There’s also the fireworks enthusiast, Tsubasa, whose life becomes the focus of millions of viewers when she’s chosen as the newest Gatchaman – on nationwide live television! As if that wasn’t enough pressure for a teenage girl to handle, she’s also assigned Hajime as her mentor! Will she survive? Will the world survive? Things are about to get really wild and crazy in GATCHAMAN CROWDS INSIGHT!
