TOHO is handling the home video release for the spring 2016 anime series Sansha Sanyou and that means a fair bit of promotion is coming for it. With the fifth volume of the series getting closer to release, we now have the finalized artwork for it ahead of its October 12th, 2016 street date. The twelve episode series is getting a six-volume release that began on June 29th, 2016. The Blu-ray’s are priced at 6,800 yen while the DVDs are at 5,800 yen. The first cover and the extras for the series have been revealed as well, which includes OVAs for the first three volumes of the series in addition to the two episodes per disc.
Sansha Sanyo was directed by Yasuhiro Kimura based on the series composition by Hideaki Koyasu and character designs by Jun Yamazaki. It was animated by Dogakobo. The main cast includes Mai Kanazawa as Futaba Odagiri, Ayaka Imamura as Teru Hayama, Yū Wakui as Yoko Nishikawa, Machico as Serina Nishiyama, Aina Suzuki as Asako Kondō and Rika Momokawa as Shino Sonobe.
The series is based on the work by creator Cherry Arai, who had some good luck last year in having their series Mikakunin de Shinkoukei receiving an anime adaptation. Sansha Sanyou has been serialized in the magazine since 2003.
Plot concept: The series focuses on three hilarious characters; Futaba Odagiri is the new transfer student with a super energetic personality; Teru Hayama is the class president with a surprisingly mean personality contrary to her innocent looks; and Youko Nishikawa is from a formerly rich, now extremely poor family who still holds on to her princess attitude. These three unlikely students with clashing personalities become good friends and survive the day-to-day teenage life in a very funny story.
