The upcoming anime feature film Kimi no Na wa, which translates as your name, definitely has the attention of a lot of folks since it’s a Makoto Shinkai film. After it recently found itself licensed for North American distribution ahead of its Japanese debut, UK distributor Anime Limited has picked up the rights to it for their region as well. With a theatrical plan coming up on November 24th, they’ve also confirmed 2017 DVD/BD releases will be coming.
Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, Masashi Ando is on board as the animation director while Masayoshi Tanaka is handling the character designs. The animation is being produced by Comix Wave, as expected. The film is set for an August 26th, 2016 premiere date for it in Japan. It features the song Zen Zen Zense from RADWIMPS.
The previously announced cast includes Ryunosuke Kamiki, Mone Kamishiraishi, Masami Nagasawa as Miki Okudera, Etsuko Ichihara as Hitoha Miyamizu, Ryou Narita as Katsuhiko Teshigawara, Aoi Yuuki as Sayaka Natori, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Tsutomu Fujii, Kaito Ishikawa as Masahiro Takagi and Kanon Tani as Yotsuha Miyamizu.
Plot concept: Mitsuha and Taki are two total strangers living completely different lives. But when Mitsuha makes a wish to leave her mountain town and for the bustling city of Tokyo, they become connected in a bizarre way. She dreams she is a boy living in Tokyo while Taki dreams he is a girl from a rural town he’s never been to. What does their newfound connection mean? And how will it bring them together?
