What They Say
It’s the end of summer, and Touma Kamijou has just realized he has a problem: He hasn’t done any of his summer homework, and school starts tomorrow! Meanwhile, Mikoto needs to ditch some unwanted company, and the best plan she can come up with is asking Touma to be her boyfriend. August 31 is shaping up to be a busy day.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Misaka is the Ace of Tokiwadai, popular and cute, and a little tomboyish. She is envied by most and loved by many. But the sudden affection from the Principal’s grandson, Unabara, is unnerving for Misaka. She wants nothing to do with Unabara and he seems incapable of taking no for an answer. Unabara pops up around every corner and asks Misaka out without a fail.

Touma also has his hands full; he hasn’t completely his summer homework and school starts tomorrow! Plus, Touma still hasn’t recovered from his amnesia. So, when Misaka pretends they are boyfriend and girlfriend to avoid her problems, Touma can never tell if they are really dating or not. Things only get more hopeless for Touma when Misaka pretends they had a date planned to shake off Unabara. Unabara seems temporarily off put, but Touma is really the one being put out. He desperately needs to finish his summer homework and Misaka isn’t making it any easier on him.

Things go from annoying to deadly for Touma when Misaka leaves to get drinks and Unabara comes out of nowhere and attacks Touma! This battle reveals the truth about Unabara’s background as a sorcerer, and his surprising real desire. Unabara has been ordered by his sorcerer elders to take out Misaka, but he fell in love with her during his surveillance. Can these two come to an agreement or is Unabara destined to kill the girl he loves?

In Summary:
Touma and Misaka seem to always find each other in times of trouble. Misaka makes most of Touma’s trouble for him, but Index also does a bang up job at that too. One day Misaka is getting Touma in trouble with her fanatic roommate that sees Touma as a love rival. The next day another one of Misaka’s fanatical stalkers is trying to kill Touma for getting too close to Misaka. Then the day after that, a sorcerer trying to kidnap Index tries to kill Touma for trying to protect her. All this seems cut and dry, but Touma’s adversaries all have a depth to their character and believable reasons for doing what they do. If Touma survives all these encounters, can he manage to help his adversaries?
