What They Say
Although Nao Kagure was once afraid of the delinquent Taiga Onise, she was soon touched by his kind soul. Nao and Taiga stopped dating when Nao became confused for her feelings for two different men in her life. Now that Taiga is just a friend, Nao begins to realize who she truly has romantic feelings for.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
The second volume of the series focuses primarily on Nao taking the time to figure out her feelings for both Taiga and her uncle. Taiga is almost too patient as he stuffs his emotions inside and sticks by Nao’s side as her friend.

When Nao does realize she does loves Taiga, she asks Taiga what he asked her, “Would you please date me with marriage in mind?!” This officially starts their relationship and a series of cute scenes follow.

The end of the book sets the reader up for the next volume with Taiga making a new friend. This is an important step for Taiga as he wants to be friendly with people and get rid of his unapproachable image. Nao is happy and supportive for Taiga, but this new friend may just end being a rival.

In Summary
Honey So Sweet is a perfect title for this manga. This manga is dripping with everything cute and sweet. While this slice of life romance is abounding with sparkles and pentagons (yes, pentagons), it isn’t a bad story at all. In fact, it’s exactly that cuteness that keeps the story moving along.

While Nao is the main character, Taiga Onise is my favorite character in the story. He’s the delinquent on the outside, but soft-hearted and thoughtful person on the inside. His character isn’t original, but the way he is portrayed, I simply love him. It’s because he’s such a great guy, that I find myself wanting to read more and root for his full and abundant love for Nao.

Now, if cuteness overload isn’t your thing, then this is definitely not a manga for you. But, if you’re in the mood for something innocent and light, give Honey So Sweet a chance.
