Captain FutureWith the Japanese release of the series and the recent pickup of it by German distributor Universum, fans of the Captain Future property have a few options ahead of them. Now it’s getting a bit busier as French distributor AB Productions has announced that they’re bringing it out in a couple of sets and have scheduled the first one, on separate DVD and Blu-ray releases, for November 9th, 2016. The set will have the original Japanese language track and the French dub as well as French subtitles. The layout of the set with how many episodes is unclear. For references sake, the German set will have nine discs and will have the 40 episodes that were dubbed in German with the special while also having the original Japanese version uncut for the full 52 episodes. Extras are set to be included but are not yet determined.

The series is getting two Blu-ray box set releases in Japan that are priced at 30,240 yen each and will land on September 14th, 2016 and November 9th, 2016. The first box set will bring out 24 episodes across four discs with a bonus fifth disc that will have the TV special that runs for an hour. A booklet will also be included. The second disc will have the rest of the episodes and will also include a booklet.

The series originally aired beginning in the fall of 1978 and ran for 52 episodes and was directed by Tomoharu Katsumata.
