Sentai Reveals Finalized Updated ‘Re-Kan!’ Anime Artwork

2 min read

Re-Kan HuluSentai Filmworks announced back in June that they would be bringing out the complete Re-Kan! anime season on DVD and Blu-ray on October 4th, 2016. While we’re a bit away from that actual release, they’ve now brought out the finalized artwork for it – and it’s a pretty big departure from the usual promotional image we get as well as their placeholder artwork. The sets are priced at $49.98 for the DVD and $59.98 for the Blu-ray.

Check out how the Japanese releases were handled here.

The property is a four-panel manga by Hinako Seta that began as a one-shot back in 2009 before going into a full series in 2010, which in turn has spawned six compilations so far. The anime adaptation arrived in the spring 2015 season. It was directed by Masashi Kudo based on scripts by Takashi Aoshima with character designs done by Aoi Yamamoto at Pierrot Plus.

The Japanese cast includes Ibuki Kido as Hibiki Amami, Miku Itou as Narumi Inoue, Erii Yamazaki as Ogawa, Riho Iida as Uehara, M・A・O as Esum, Yoshihisa Kawahara as Daihen-zamurai, Mikako Izawa as Hanako-san, Kujira as Ero-neko, Eriko Matsui as Merry-san, Aya Uchida as Kogal Spirit and Futaba Kino as Faceless Spirit.

Plot concept: Narumi Inoue has a problem with the new girl in school. It’s not that Hibiki Amami is impolite or a bully… it’s just that she sees, speaks with, and befriends ghosts! Now, it’s at the point that when Amami’s around, Inoue sometimes sees them too, spelling disaster for a girl who’s terrified of anything supernatural. However, Amami’s genuine kindness makes it hard for Inoue to ignore her, especially when her friends Kyoko, Kana, and Makoto, as well as the other students, have accepted Amami’s habit of talking to thin air and walking around invisible obstacles. With gentle coaxing (and the knowledge that her departed grandmother is watching over her), Inoue finds herself immersed in Amami’s strange, otherworldly adventures. Fulfilling the last wishes of the dead might not be a normal after-school activity, but at least they’ll always know why the ghost crossed to the other side in RE-KAN!
