Heavy Object French Volume 1 PackagingWith the Japanese release of Heavy Object on DVD and Blu-ray having finished up at the end of July in Japan, things are going to move quickly overseas – at least in France. Kaze France back in June that they’ll be releasing the series on home video there with the first half of it now planned for an August 31st, 2016 release, but that has now hit a snag. The solicitations for it have now shifted to a September 14th, 2016 release date and we now have a look at the packaging, which you can see for the DVD release to the right. The show is getting separate DVD and Blu-ray releases priced at 25 and 30 euro respectively. Details of what’s in the set are minimal at this point but the solicitation information does reveal that it will have both Japanese and French language options plus French subtitles.

Funimation simulcast the series in North America during its broadcast run.

Heavy Object was directed by Takashi Watanabe with Chikara Sakura serving as the assistant director and Hiroyuki Yoshino handling the series composition. Character designs were being done by Atsuko Watanabe with animation produced by JC Staff.

The original work began in 2009 and has had nine volumes published so far and the release of the most recent volume this past April. A brief manga run was done back in 2009 that ran for two years and then a second manga adaptation kicked off in 2011 that also ran for two years. Unsurprisingly, a new manga adaptation is in the works.

The series will star Natsuki Hanae as Quenser, Kaito Ishikawa as Heivia, Shizuka Itou as Major Floretia Capistrano and Eri Suzuki as Milinda.

Plot concept: Quenser came to the Alaskan military base to study Objects, the new weapons that have completely revolutionized war as we know it—battles are fought by soldiers controlling Objects far away from harm; however, when he starts to get close to Object pilot Milinda, will he discover the grim truth behind Heavy Objects?
