Sentai Filmworks picked up a title last week that I missed updating on while out of state for a few days with Little Busters EX. Adapted from the visual novel Little Butsters! Ecstacy, this eight-episode OVA series has finally gotten the pickup fans had hoped for after all the previous material had been licensed by the distributor.
The property took the original romance adventure game and reworked it with no material and different scenarios in order to give it a more adult flare. The game was released back in 2008 and has a couple of characters that were given a heightened role in the game.
Little Busters EX was directed by Yoshiki Yamakawa (Little Busters!, Hatsukoi Limited), with series composition by Michuru Shimada (Little Busters!, Shugo Chara!). J.C. Staff, the same studio that produced Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, A Certain Magical Index, and Golden Time, helmed animation production.
Plot concept: This reimagining of the Little Busters storyline pits protagonist Riki Naoe against familiar faces such as Saya Tokido, a treasure hunter in hiding from an elusive group known as the Dark Executives, and Kanata Futaki, young chairwoman of the so-called “Public Morals Committee” who seems to have a sinister agenda of her own.
