2 min read

Arpeggio Of Blue SteelWhile the TV series a few years ago for Arpeggio of Blue Steel went over pretty well with fans around the world, it’s had a fairly weak to non-existent release outside of Japan. That’s finally starting to change a bit more as German distributor KSM Anime has acquired the rights in that region for the show. At the moment they don’t have any news as to what format they’ll release it in, or if it’ll be dubbed into German, but they’re looking at a 2017 release for the show.

The twelve episode run was previously simulcast by Crunchyroll, which we reviewed here. Seven Seas Entertainment is distributing the manga in North America and Netflix previously acquired the streaming rights to the series in the US and has added the entire run of the first season to their service here. Discotek Media has released the show on home video in North America.

Known as Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio in Japan, the series is based on the manga by Ark Performance, which has eight volumes on hand so far in Japan, the new show is being directed by Seiji Kishi based on scripts by Makoto Uezu.

Plot Concept: In the story, a Fleet of Fog loaded with super weapons suddenly appear all over the world. Without the ability to withstand this fleet, humanity was defeated and could no longer travel the seas. 17 years after the devastating naval war, Chihaya Gunzou and his friends somehow commandeer a Fleet of Fog submarine and rename it I-401. Together with Iona, they take on the Fleet of Fog.
