Genshiken Second Season Volume 6 HeaderIt’s time to put to a close one of the more enjoyable properties on the manga side that doesn’t get anywhere near the attention it should with Genshiken: Second Season. The latest installment of Afternoon magazine has arrived and has revealed that the series will end with chapter 126 that lands on August 25th, 2016. The series comes from Shimoku Kio and began in 2002 with the original series that ran for nine volumes before it ended in 2006. The sequel manga began in 2009 and has eleven volumes out so far, though the rankings tend to treat it as a combined work. The recent 20th volume debuted at the end of June to 65,000 units sold in its first week.

Del Rey Manga released the original series in North America while Kodansha Comics has released the second season.

Property concept: It’s the spring of freshman year, and Kanji Sasahara is in a quandary. Should he fulfill his long-cherished dream of joining an otaku club? Saki Kasukabe also faces a dilemma. Kanji triumphs where Saki fails, when both Kanji and Kousaka sign up for Genshiken: The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture.

Undeterred, Saki chases Kousaka through the various activities of the club, from costume-playing and comic conventions to video gaming and collecting anime figures—learning more than she ever wanted to about the humorous world of the Japanese fan…
