First ‘Legion’ TV Series Trailer Arrives

2 min read

Legion LogoThe upcoming FX series Legion that’s part of the larger X-Men universe that Fox is trying to exploit beyond just the feature film side got some attention at SDCC this weekend with a trailer that works… but doesn’t. It’s the kind of trailer that fans of the character can figure out but it’s something that I suspect will just befuddle most others as it doesn’t look like it has a strong and engaging hook in that area. The show is designed to standalone from the film universes.

NoahHawley wrote the pilot and serves as an executive producer with the film franchise’s director/producer Singer, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, writer/producer Simon Kinberg as well as Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory, John Cameron and Steve Blackman.

The cast includes Dan Stevens as David Haller, Rachel Keller as Syd, Jean Smart as Melanie, Aubrey Plaza as Lenny, Jeremie Harris as Ptonomy, Amber Midthunder as Kerry, Katie Aselton as Amy and Bill Irwin.

Plot concept: Legion introduces the story of David Haller (Stevens), based on the Marvel comics character Legion, the son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier. Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. A haunted man, David is getting tired of finding his way back to sanity and is about to give up when he meets the girl of his dreams, a fellow patient, and is confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
