This weekend saw the Star Wars Celebration event arrive with a lot of panels and interviews with all sorts of creative involved in the sprawling multimedia universe. One area that’s really picking up even more as time goes on is that of Star Wars Rebels, which really hit its stride in the later part of the second season as it began to bond more with the growing Rebellion. With the third season getting closer, they’ve now brought out a 3 1/2 minute trailer for it that shows some really interesting changes with a minor time leap forward as well as the confirmation of Grand Admiral Thrawn from the Timothy Zahn novels now being introduce into proper canon outside of that realm. This is exciting!
The series stars Freddie Prinze, Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar and Vanessa Marshall. The third season got underway fall 2016.
Plot concept: Set five years before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and fourteen years after the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Council in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the series follows a motley group of rebels (all of whom have been affected by the Galactic Empire in one form or another) that band together aboard a freighter starship called the Ghost. The series will also focus on the origins of some of the groups that will form the Rebel Alliance.
