German distributor FilmConfect announced that their anime label has picked up the rights to the show Danganronpa back at the end of June and had planned a July 20th, 2016 debut for the first volume of it. That may have been a touch ambitious as they’ve now formally solicited to retailers like Amazon DE and it’s now getting an August 26th, 2016 release date. Both DVD and Blu-ray releases are coming priced at 25 euro each. They’ve also put together a pretty solid series site that you can see here.

The series was directed by Seiji Kishi based on the series composition by Makoto Uezu and character designs by Kazuaki Morita. Animation was produced by Lerche.

The cast includes Megumi Ogata as Makoto Naegi, Akira Ishida as Byakuya Togami, Chiwa Saito as Aoi Asahina, Hekiru Shiina as Celestia Ludenwerg, Kappei Yamaguchi as Hifumi Yamada, Kazuya Nakai as Mondo Ōwada, Kouki Miyata as Chihiro Fujisaki, Kousuke Toriumi as Kiyotaka Ishimaru, Kujira as Sakura Ōgami, Makiko Ohmoto as Sayaka Maizono, Masaya Matsukaze as Yasuhiro Hagakure, Megumi Toyoguchi as Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba, Miyuki Sawashiro as Genocider Syo and Tōko Fukawa, Nobuyo Oyama as Monokuma, Takahiro Sakurai as Leon Kuwata and Yōko Hikasa as Kyōko Kirigiri.

Plot concept: Hope’s Peak Academy is an exclusive private school that only accepts the best of the best. Graduates of this elite — yet enigmatic — institution have the world at their fingertips, but getting a cap and gown is easier said than done. The hallowed halls are ruled by the sadistic administrator Monobear, who declares that the only way to pass the class is by sending a fellow student home in a body bag.

If you can get away with murder, you’ll get your diploma. But if you’re caught red handed, you’ll find yourself on the receiving end of a deadly detention slip!

When your principal is psychotic and your finals are fatal, high school goes from being the best years of your life — to your last.
