‘One Piece Film: Gold’ Anime Opening Music Videos Released

2 min read

One Piece Heart of Gold HeaderPromotion for the One Piece Film: Gold that’s due out on July 23rd, 2016 is moving right along and one of the newest pieces to enter the picture is that of the theme song for the film. After releasing the shorter version of the theme song as a live-action music video previously from GLM SPANKY, which is pretty good in its own right, Universal Music Japan has now revealed the anime version of it with some new clips from the film making their way into it. It’s definitely interesting how the live-action version just feels like it has a better kind of intensity and rawness about it. The anime one certainly makes me want to see the film sooner rather than later, however.

With the movie in theaters, the TV side has set for a July 16th, 2016 debut at 9pm JST for the One Piece: Heart of Gold special to connect the two works. The special is directed by Tatsuya Nagamine based on the screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa.

While it’s likely that we’ll see this episode simulcast through Funimation and Crunchyroll, it’s not guaranteed that it will or that it’ll arrive at the same time as it could be a delayed stream.

Plot concept: There exists a mysterious treasure that even Tesoro desires, the ‘Pure Gold.’ The Straw Hats meet a girl who knows where this treasure lies, and they head for the legendary island, ‘Alchemy.’
