With an August release in North America from Sentai Filmworks and Animatsu bringing it out in the UK later this year, Madman Entertainment is the latest licensor for Punch Line. The series is now getting an Australian release on October 5th, 2016 where it’ll be working off of Sentai’s materials (they even show Sentai’s artwork as the not final piece at the moment) where it’ll be DVD-only and include the original Japanese language with English subtitles. Priced at $59.95, it’ll have the clean opening and closings as the only extras.
The show was directed by Yutaka Uemura based on scripts by Kotaro Uchikoshi with animation at Mappa. Character designs were done by Shota Iwasaki. It stars Marina Inoue as Yūta Iritatsu, Sora Amamiya as Mikatan Narukino, Haruka Tomatsu as Rabura Chichibu, Minako KotobukiIto Hikiotani and Rie Kugiyama Meika Taihatsu.
The series works with the tagline of “Once he sees underwear, humanity is destroyed!?”, which pretty much says all that a lot of people will need to determine their interest.
Plot concept: If he sees underwear, humanity will be destroyed!? An original anime series from the noitaminA block, PUNCH LINE centers on Yuta Iridatsu, a high school student, with a peculiar habit. When he sees a girl’s panties, he gets so excited he faints! After a certain incident with a ghost cat, his soul gets separated from his body. Using his special powers, Yuta watches the daily lives of the inhabitants of an apartment and sometimes plays tricks on them. Eventually, Yuta decides to unlock the secrets to why Earth will be destroyed and tries to save it!
