We learned a little bit about the upcoming anime adaptation of Visual Art’s Planetarian back in April and got the details and promo around the same time with little else since. Now that the show is almost here, Funimation has announced that they’ll be streaming the series this summer on their service. The series is being animated by David Production with a planned five-episode streaming run that begins on July 7th, 2016.
A theatrical film will arrive on September 3rd, 2016 that adapts a side story from the original material. The project is being directed by Naokatsu Tsuda with Katsuichi Nakayama serving as the series director. They’re working off the script by Shogo Yasukawa and character designs by Hitomi Takechi going off the original work by E-Ji Komatsu from the visual novel.
The cast includes Keiko Suzuki as Yumemi Hoshino, Daisuke Ono as Kuzuya, Yasumichi Kushida, Satoshi Taki, Rina Satou, Masaru Shinozuka, Sanae Fuku, Yoko Hikasa, Minami Tsuda, Shizuka Ishigami, Yuuki Kuwahara, Akiko Takeguchi and Tamio Ooki.
The original visual novel came out back in 2004, which saw translation through Sekai Project back in 2014.

And as he enters he is greeted by Hoshino Yumemi, a companion robot. Without a single shred of doubt, she assumes he is the first customer she’s had in 30 years. She attempts to show him the stars at once, but the planetarium projector is broken. Unable to make heads or tails of her conversation, he ends up agreeing to try and repair the projector…
