While there hasn’t been much movement outside of Japan with the Saiyuki property for several years outside of some re-releases of the original series, it looks like we may be coming up to something new for it. The Comic Zero Sum magazine that irregularly serialized Saiyuki Reload Blast has teased that an important announcement will hit with the July 28th issue where the property will adorn the cover. This incarnation of the property kicked off in 2009 with Kazuya Minekura working at it through her heath issues and it has ten volumes to date, which if this news that a new anime adaptation is coming would mean there’s a decent bit of material to work with.
Plot concept: At last, the Sanzo Party has arrived in India. In this foreign land, where the anomaly’s influence runs rampant, their battles only heighten in their violence. And also awaiting them is their tragic fate from 500 years ago. What will they find at the end of their long and treacherous journey?
