Frontier Works announced recently that they’re bringing out Onegai My Melody on Blu-ray, though as mentioned before there’s a certain level of wariness to it with how it’s being solicited on Amazon. The releases for each season of 52 episodes is set for two discs, listing it as over six hours of material with each of them. The impression given is that they’re working off of the DVD masters for it and not giving it a true high definition release but claiming it’s better than the DVD release quality since it doesn’t have to be as compressed. The result is a way to get a lot of show in compact form for what might be considered a solid price, at least least comparatively in Japan. For those holding out hope for a true high definition release, these may not be the sets for you.

The series for this began back in 2005 with new seasons following yearly after the first one finished.
Plot concept: My Melody arrives on Earth much to the surprise of her rival Kuromi. Together with one of the junior high school students, Yumeno Uta, they decide to protect the dreams of the people with the help of magic.
