Wagamama High Spec Episode 11Everyone’s on vacation!

What They Say:
Even though he’s just a student, the protagonist in Wagamama High Spec also happens to be the author of a manga published in a weekly magazine. Since it’s mainly an ecchi and romcom type of story, he is actually hiding this fact from most people around him. The only people that know are his younger sister and his best friend. But then on one day, the student council president happens to find out his secret, just as she was actually looking for a male member to include in the student council. Afraid of having his secret exposed, our protagonist joins the student council under the promise of his secret staying safe.

One of the more amusing episodes of the series was the early fanservice oriented one because it was just honest in a way without trying to force story material where they really don’t have any interest in doing so. With this episode, the girls are on vacation at an indoor water park and that means bikinis galore and silliness in the water, including one of them losing their top along the way. The fun of them trying to get it back is cute since it’s like old school video game material in a way (thinking Pitfall here, almost!) and dealing with the fallout from it. It’s a whole lot of T&A and for a series like this, well, it’s what really does work best for it.

In Summary:
If the show had worked this angle more with the cast, going places and getting into silly fanservice-y adventures, I probably would have liked it more. I still figure that this works better if you’re familiar with the game because there isn’t much in the way of outreach here to draw in new people. This one plays the fanservice well and just has predictable but enjoyable fun as it progresses. It’s a lot more fun than most of the episodes have been in this series, which I’ll admit isn’t saying too much.
