With Brian Michael Bendis having his POWERS comic series adapted into TV form and his work on Jessica Jones being quite well received, it’s no surprise that some of his other works are moving into development phase. The latest news is that his series from the ICON line at Marvel with Scarlet is on track. The book comes from him and co-creator/artist Alex Maleev, which had the news surface at the ATX festival this weekend that it was on track for HBO. That was later confirmed to be set with the sister network Cinemax instead, confirming that the project is definitely in the works, though whether it gets the push into a pilot or full on series remains to be seen.
“Scarlet is a list of things you can’t get made. Here’s a female lead who’s killing cops because her world is broken.” said Bendis. “When it was sold, it was sold to people who were actively looking for that, so that put us in a good place. So stay tuned.”
The series has been published irregularly in the creator-owned line from Marvel as it began in 2010 and has its 8th through 10th issues published this past spring.
