As we inch closer to the start of filming and production in July, Warner continues to announce a bit more in regards to the October 6th, 2017 release for the Blade Runner sequel. The latest tidbit to surface is another piece of casting with the addition of Mackenzie Davis to the film. Unsurprisingly, no details about the role were revealed, which is par for the course with this film in how under wraps everything is. While Davis is generally being credited for her small role in last year’s film The Martian, she’s been great as one of the leads in the AMC TV series Halt and Catch Fire.

Warner Bros. previously confirmed that they will be handling the domestic distribution while Sony will handle the international side. The cast includes Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Ana de Armas.

The script comes from Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the original, along with Michael Green with Ridley Scott producing while Denis Villenueve is directing and the legendary Roger Deakins as the cinematographer.

Original Film Concept: In a signature role as 21st-century detective Rick Deckard, Harrison Ford brings his masculine-yet-vulnerable presence to this stylish noir thriller. In a future of high-tech possibility soured by urban and social decay, Deckard hunts for fugitive, murderous replicants – and is drawn to a mystery woman whose secrets may undermine his soul.
