Now that the limited theatrical engagement is behind us in North America for Only Yesterday and we’re just under a month away from the home video release, the finalized packaging for it has been revealed. The Studio Ghibli film is getting its home video distribution handled by Universal for GKIDS (which you can find on Amazon) with a planned July 5th, 2016 street date. The pricing looks fairly standard with a $34.98 Blu-ray/DVD combo and a $29.98 DVD-only release. The release looks to include the original Japanese language, the new English dub, and will have English and French subtitles on it.

Plot Concept: Taeko Okajima is a typical “office lady” in a big company in a big city. When she takes a sabbatical to the countryside in Yamagata Prefecture, the hometown of her brother-in-law, the journey recalled her memory of her 5th-grade year. During her stay in Yamagata, she works hard and happily as a farmer and is surrounded by friendly relatives and villagers, bringing up more memories. Their hospitality makes her reconsider her choice of life.
